Drawing with Effect Media
Capture Professional v6 has less drawing tools to edit images than Capture Professional v5. This was done to remove duplicate actions. For example the touch up and eraser tools had the same drawing actions as the freehand or line tools, but produced a different result. Now to get a different result, you need to select different media types on the media bar.
Lets assume that you wish to smooth an edge, just follow the step-by-step instructions.
(This image is in 8-bit color for faster loading time.)
Step 1
Select the line drawing tool. You could also select the freehand tool by clicking the drop down arrow next to the line button. This will cause the media bar to change.
There are now 3 media wells: foreground, background and line media.
Step 2
If the line media well is not selected above, click on the circled area above to select it.
Step 3
As pictured above, the line media currently contains a solid color (white at 100% saturation). Click on the Effects tab to put an effect in the line media well.

Step 4
In this example we want to blur the edge, so select the "Variable Blur Effect" effect from the Effect combo box.

There is now only one option (Reach) displayed for this effect. A reach of 1 is fine for our purposes.
Step 5
Move the mouse pointer to one end of the diagonal portion of the shape.

Step 6
Press and hold the left mouse button down and move the mouse pointer up to the other end and release the left mouse button.

Step 7
If you are satisfied with the result press the ENTER key to complete the line. Otherwise, you can change the touchup effect in the Effect combo box or one of the effect parameters.
Step 8 (Above and Beyond)
Now lets pretend that you wanted to adjust the color of the non-edge portion of the triangle. Select the Fill tool. This will cause the media bar to change. Select the Foreground media well (circled) if it is not already selected.

Step 9
Select the Effects tab and select the "Adjust Color Effect" from the Effects combo box. Notice that this parameter has Red, Green and Blue parameters.

Step 10
Change the Red to 100 and blue to -100. Notice how the effect parameters in the media well change.

Step 11
Move the mouse over the area to be filled.

Step 12
Press the left mouse button.

The effect has been flood filled.
Also try using the Solid drawing tool a standard shape or user defined shape) to put an effect into an area of your choice.
