Here is a partial list of Capture Professional v6's features. If you have any questions about functionality, either download and explore the demo or send an email to support@creativesoftworx.com.
Screen Capture Features
- Captures images and video using twelve screen capture operations. One screen capture operation is assigned to the PrintScreen key. All screen capture operations can be directly accessed via configurable hotkeys.
Screen Capture Operation Description Active Window Automatically captures the foreground window. If Capture Professional is the foreground window, it captures the window that becomes active when Capture Professional disappears to make the capture. Active Window Contents Automatically captures the contents of the foreground window. If Capture Professional is the foreground window, it captures the window that becomes active when Capture Professional disappears to make the capture. Control Captures a control that you click on. Desktop Captures the entire desktop. DirectX Captures a DirectX surface. This is used to capture from media player applications or games. If you tried to use the print screen key or another screen capture tool to capture from a media player and all you got was a black rectangle, you should use this screen capture operation. Ellipse Captures an elliptical area of the screen that you define. The size can optionaly be predefined. Multiple Window Captures one or more windows or controls into a single image. This is useful for capturing stacked dialog boxes or tearoff menus. Pointer Captures only the mouse pointer. The mouse pointer can be automatically included when using other screen capture operations. Polygon Captures a polygonal area of the screen that you define. Rectangle Captures a rectangular area of the screen that you define. The size can optionaly be predefined. Single Window Captures a window that you click on. Window Contents Captures the contents of a window that you click on. - After capturing an image, Capture Professional automatically uses the selected output configuration consisting of one or more output actions. The following output actions are available: Create an image window, save the image (can be used multiple times), print the image or copy the image.
- Capture Professional can automatically scroll an image to capture more than can vertically fit on the screen.
- Capture Professional has a capture assistant to help you learn screen capture operations that require user input.
Image Editing Features
- Capture Professional v6's editor and screen capture functionality is integrated within the same application.
- Non-sequential infinite undo. Capture Professional v6's editor can undo anything at anytime without affecting anything else that you have done.
- Handles 7 formats of images
Image Formats Description 32-bit color This format uses 8 red, green and blue bits for color plus 8 alpha layer bits for transparency. Capture Professional can edit alpha values with all drawing tools as well as most effects and operations. 24-bit color This format uses 8 red, green and blue bits. It can have a transparent layer. 16-bit color Typically this format uses 5 red, green and blue bits or 5 red, 6 green and 5 blue bits. Capture Professional can handle any allocation of bits that adds up to 16 or less. It can have a transparent layer. 8-bit palette color This format uses up to 256 colors. It can have a transparent layer. 8-bit grayscale This format uses 256 shades of gray. It can have a transparent layer. 4-bit palette color This format uses 16 standard colors. It can have a transparent layer. 1-bit black and white This format uses black and white pixels. It can have a transparent layer. - Capture Professional works with multiple media types instead of just solid colors. All samples below were generated using a standard image and drawing a curve using two arrowhead ends.
Media Sample Description Solid Color
This media is a continous color. If you are editing a 32-bit image, you can specify alpha values (opacity). If you are editing an image with a transparent layer, you can use transparency or inverse transparency. Faded Colors
This variation of solid media blends a continous color into the background using a configurable percentage. If you are editing a 32-bit image, you can specify alpha values (opacity). This example used the green above at 50%. Gradients
This media type gradually transitions between two colors in one of 13 patterns. This example used a NE to SW gradient. Hatch
This media type generates one of 6 patterns. The fill (yellow in this sample) can be specified or left transparent. Textures
This media type stretches or tiles another image. This example tiled the Santa Fe Stucco.bmp file that is probably in your Windows directory. Effects
This media type applies one of the following effects: Adjust Color, Adjust Contrast, Adjust Hue Saturation & Brightness, Equalize, Gaussian blur, Gray, Histogram Brighten, Invert, Outline, Pixelize, Red Eye Reduction, Remove Noise, Sharpen, Solarize and Variable Blur. This example used the Solarize effect. Color Replacement
This media type replaces all colors within a threshold with another color. The replacement color can be relative or absolute. This example relatively replaces an off white color with a red. The threshold used was fairly large, but not large enough to completely replace the area covered by the upper right arrowhead. - Images can be edited using 13 drawing tools.
Drawing Tool Description Select Area This tool is used to select, move, copy or smear a rectangular, elliptical or polygonal area of an image. Edit Object This tool is used to move or alter a drawing tool that has already been completed. Pick Color This tool is used to send colors from the image to the foreground and background media wells. All drawing tools have the ability to send colors from the image to the currently selected media well by using the middle mouse button. Freehand This tool draws a continuous line that follows the mouse. Line This tool draws a straight line. Connected This tool draws a series of connected straight lines. Curve This tool uses four points to draw a bezier curve. Fill This tool replaces the color of a pixel and all adjoining pixels that are similar with another color. Spray Paint This tool randomly scatters pixels of a given media within a definable radius at a definable rate. Text This tool draws text. Hollow This tool draws a hollow user-defined or predefined shape with or without text. Filled This tool draws a filled user-defined or predefined shape with or without text. Solid This tool draws a solid user-defined or predefined shape with or without text. - Images can be edited using 29 operations.
